Activities and ‘Play’

All children and young people need to ‘play’. The impulse to play is innate. Play is a biological, psychological and social necessity, and is fundamental to the healthy development and well being of individuals and communities.
Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play, by following their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way for their own reasons.

At Crazy 4 Kids we will act as facilitators to children’s play, supporting the children in all they do. We will make available to the children a range of activities that the children will be free to choose from, i.e. arts and crafts, puzzles, board games, exploration, role play, cooking and outdoor and indoor team games. These activities will be the ‘core’ activities that will be available at every session; we will enhance these by offering ‘specialist’ activities.

Outdoor Play
The outdoor area is fully accessible to the children whatever the weather. There is a large grassed area, undercover play area, play equipment and a ‘marked out’ playground. We will utilise this area to the full, giving the children the opportunity to explore the outdoor natural environment. There is also an outdoor garden that the children will be able to grow their own plants / vegetables.

Specialist Activities
As you will discover in the ‘Meet the Team’ section we are building a team with specific specialist areas, which will allow us to provide a more varied activity list.

Term Time:

‘Active Kids’
A variety of ball, team and parachute games, to keep children active whilst having fun.

‘Creative Kids’
A variety of activities including, arts and crafts, cooking, board games, fantasy play, construction, role play and gardening.

Dance, Movement and Dramatic Expression!
Drama and dance sessions for children who love to perform! This session will be provided by ‘Little Movers’ our resident Drama and Dance Provider.

Traditions and Festivals
Children will be involved in exploring different traditions and festivals around the world, and will be provided with activities relating to the festival or tradition that we are looking at each week. This will enable children to explore the ways in which different cultures celebrate.

Cookery Club
Children will have the opportunity to explore many areas of food preparation, cooking and eating! At Crazy 4 Kids we like to get the children involved in what they eat and cookery is a great way to get children to try new foods and also to understand the need to eat healthily.

For activity availability please see the individual session plans for each group. Places available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

School Holidays:

A variety of exciting activities are offered, including den making, table football, woodwork, discos, adventure playground visits, skateboarding, scooters, treasure hunts, pool parties, kite flying, arts and crafts and lots of sports activities. We will also be organising outings and visits, bowling, cinema, zoo, parks, pamper sessions, etc.
